Admissions & Enrollment
Admissions at EverCurious Minds
Who Do We Serve?
We serve gifted and advanced learners in grades 3–8 who:
Thrive on challenge and deep thinking
Learn best through discussion, inquiry, and hands-on problem solving
Benefit from learning alongside intellectual peers
Need an environment that understands gifted social-emotional development
At EverCurious Minds, our admissions process is designed to ensure a strong academic and social-emotional fit for gifted learners. We take a whole-child approach that looks beyond test scores to understand each student’s learning profile, needs, and readiness for our program.
Our Admissions Philosophy
Giftedness cannot be captured by a single number. While cognitive ability data helps us understand how a student thinks, we intentionally avoid achievement testing as a gatekeeper. Instead, we use multiple measures to determine readiness and fit.
Our goal is not to find “perfect” students, it’s to build a learning community where students are appropriately challenged, supported, and understood.
Admissions Criteria
To be considered for full-time enrollment, students typically demonstrate:
Cognitive ability scores at or above the 95th percentile (or comparable evidence of advanced reasoning)
Strong curiosity, creativity, and problem-solving skills
Readiness for advanced academic discussion and independent work
Social-emotional readiness for a small, collaborative learning environment
Students who do not yet meet full-time criteria may still be eligible for part-time enrollment or enrichment programs.
How the Admissions Process Works
Step 1: Inquiry Form
Families complete a brief interest form to help us understand their child’s background, strengths, and needs.
Step 2: Family Conversation
We schedule a conversation to learn more about your child, answer questions, and determine whether EverCurious Minds may be a good fit.
Step 3: Review of Materials
We review a combination of:
Cognitive ability testing (no achievement tests required)
Parent input and developmental history
Work samples or prior projects (when available)
A short performance-based task designed to observe thinking, not content mastery
Step 4: Placement Recommendation
Based on the full profile, we recommend:
Full-time enrollment
Part-time enrollment
Enrichment programming
Performance-Based Tasks
Enrichment & Alternative Entry Points
Our Commitment to Families
Rather than testing what students know, our performance tasks allow students to demonstrate how they think. Tasks may include:
Solving an open-ended problem with multiple possible solutions
Analyzing a complex scenario and explaining reasoning
Designing or improving a model, system, or solution
There are no right or wrong answers—these tasks are used to observe reasoning, creativity, and persistence.
Students who are not yet ready for full-time placement, or families seeking a lighter commitment, may enter through:
Part-time enrollment
Summer enrichment camps
Short-term or thematic programs
These options allow students to experience our learning environment while we continue to assess fit and readiness.
We value transparency, communication, and partnership. Families can expect:
Honest feedback and clear placement recommendations
A thoughtful, respectful admissions experience
A school community that prioritizes challenge, belonging, and growth
If you’re unsure whether EverCurious Minds is the right fit, we encourage you to reach out, we’re happy to talk.
